Azilal rugs are handwoven by Berber women who have long lived in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco, using traditional techniques passed down through generations, and are meticulously crafted one by one using high-quality wool.
A characteristic feature is the use of dyed wool, resulting in many colorful designs. Even with the same type of rug, the impression can vary completely depending on the design.
The unique and creative color schemes and patterns of each handwoven rug are truly one-of-a-kind.
Because wool is used, the texture is soft and pleasant, yet the pile is relatively short, and the weave is not dense, making it appealing for use in all seasons. Changing its placement seasonally, such as under a table, by a sofa, bed, cabinet, or in the kitchen, is one way to enjoy it.
In Morocco, they are also hung on walls and admired as art.
