These vintage rugs are woven from wool and acrylic by Berber women in the region known as Boujad, using traditional methods passed down through generations.
Boujad rugs are also known as "jewel" rugs, characterized by a base of red, purple, and pink colors. Some feature distinct patterns, while many display abstract designs.
Because they are handcrafted, each rug expresses unique and creative color schemes and patterns. No two rugs are exactly alike in pattern or color.
You can enjoy these rugs by changing their placement seasonally, such as under a table, next to a sofa, bed, or cabinet, or in the kitchen.
In Morocco, they are also hung on walls and appreciated as art.
