These vintage rugs are woven from wool and acrylic by Berber women in the Boujad region, using traditional methods passed down through generations.
Boujad rugs are also known as "jewel rugs" and are characterized by their dominant colors of red, purple, and pink. Many feature distinct patterns, while others showcase abstract designs.
The unique color schemes and patterns are a testament to the individual creativity expressed through their handcrafted nature. No two rugs have the same pattern or color.
You can enjoy these rugs by placing them under a table, beside a sofa, bed, or cabinet, or even in the kitchen, and changing their location with the seasons.
In Morocco, they are also hung on walls and admired as art.
